KidsPace for Parents
We believe children deserve the time and space to grow, create, and experience childhood at their own pace. Our work is centred on promoting age-appropriate, child-safe, and empowering practices across the performing arts industry - so you can feel confident in the environments your child is part of.
Your Guide to Safe & Supportive Performing Arts
To support families, we’ve created a practical guide to help you understand what to look for in a dance and performing arts school.
KidsPace is an initiative of Dance Arts Alliance (DAA): a peak body for Dance and Performing Arts education, who support a national network of educators and schools committed to high standards of child safety and wellbeing.
You can explore their Member Directory to find teachers and schools aligned with the KidsPace Performing Arts Code of Practice.

The Creative Childhoods Listening Project
Children, young people and families are at the heart of dance and performing arts education. Yet too often, conversations about the future of our industry happen without directly hearing from those who experience it every day.
The Creative Childhoods Listening Project has been developed to listen to the voices of children, young people and families involved in dance and performing arts across Australia.
We want to understand:
What young people and families love about participating in the arts
What helps children feel safe, supported and respected
What inclusion and belonging look like in practice
What matters most to children, young people and families
Opportunities to strengthen dance and performing arts experiences for future generations
Why Are We Asking?
Insights gathered through this project will help inform discussions at the Creative Childhoods Summit, a national industry conference focused on child safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion and positive participation in dance and performing arts education. By sharing your experiences, ideas and perspectives, you will help ensure that conversations about children and young people are informed by the voices of children and young people themselves.
Who Can Participate?
We welcome responses from:
Children and young people involved in dance and performing arts
Parents and carers of children participating in dance and performing arts
Whether you dance recreationally, train intensively, perform, teach, volunteer or simply support a child who participates, your perspective is valuable.
How Will Responses Be Used?
Responses will be reviewed and analysed to identify key themes, experiences and priorities. Findings may be presented at the Creative Childhoods Summit, included in industry reports and resources and used to inform future initiatives that support children and young people. Any published findings will be de-identified, and individual responses will remain confidential.
We invite children, young people and families from across Australia to contribute.
Together, we can help create dance and performing arts environments where every child feels safe, respected, included and able to thrive.
